The journey of my faith...

Some of us associate our most deeply-held convictions with a single, life-changing experience. Others have always held certain beliefs sacred. In either case, it is important to talk about our experiences and share our testimonies.

According to the Word, God knew me before I was formed in the belly of my mother.  Although none of the detours that I have taken along the way of this journey have surprised God, I must admit that His mercy was busy running before me while His grace was busy overshadowing me.    I grew up, as many would say, in the church.  It seems that as far back as I can remember, I have known God.  I am also sure that the time I accepted Jesus in my heart was as real and sincere as I could possibly be as a child.  It wasn't until I moved to Texas and joined a church in Lewisville that I realized that a relationship is what God wanted.  We accept Jesus in our heart, yet we build a relationship with our lives.  I believe there is a reason God chose the heart.   Biologically, it is the place of life and to us, it is the place most known to be associated with love.    God's desire is to be in a relationship with me that was built on love.  Jesus was not just to be a part of my heart, sitting in the background.  He was to be a part of my life.  I was to allow the third part of the God-head, the Holy Spirit, to lead and guide me into all truths.  After years of  knowing Jesus, I finally developed a relationship with Jesus on a Wednesday evening in the privacy of my bathroom.  After a high-spirited, bible study at church, I came home and continued to praise the Lord in my secret closet - otherwise known as my bathroom.  My praise turned into pleas of mercy and finally a surrendering heart begging the Lord of Host to speak to my heart.  I felt the awakening of the Holy Spirit and from that point forward, I have been nourishing my relationship with Christ.  I tell this story because it allows others to see that God meets us at our point of need.  The point is for us recognize and acknowledge our need for His daily guidance in our life.  Although I attended a powerhouse of a church, God met me in the floor of my bathroom.  It is not just about when, where, or how but the fact that you need to "Just Do It" before it is too late.  God wants to be a living part of your daily life, not just a one-time emotional occurence.      Am I perfect in every way?  Absolutely not, but I have a Savior who loves me more than any other, including myself, and He is NOT finished with me yet. Is my life perfect and problem free?  Absolutely not, but I have a Provider who meets my every need and has promised NEVER to leave nor forsake me.  These are two facts that keep and guide me on a daily basis as I grow in my relationship with Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to read "my testimony".
